Artists need space to make and create. In responding to the demand to test and seed ideas, to ensure viability – socially, culturally and artistically, is incredibly important for innovative practice. To try, and to potentially fail, adjust, re-consider and re-make is vital to innovation. This is the future of robust dance making
The Creative Funded Residencies provide 4 dance, physical theatre or multidisciplinary artists, or collectives, 2 weeks of space each with a cash contribution of $6000 per project. These residencies will specifically focus on exploration and process. They allow space and time for artists to turn initial ideas into structure, methodology and aesthetic palette, in readiness for larger opportunities, EOI’s, funding bids and grant applications.
This program champions adaptability, flexibility and rigorous practice.
No formal outcomes, showings or sharings are required with the residency, rather the residency is to focus on pure creative discovery.
