Studio1 is a micro arts precinct supporting the day-to-day practice and on-going development of art in Brisbane.
We deeply understand that artists require space and infrastructure for experimentation, exchange, and discovery to push boundaries and find curious new forms, textures and modes of presentation. Studio1 is a workroom where you can open the toolkit and devise your next artistic creation.
Workroom Program 2026
The Workroom Program is Studio1’s year-round platform for artist development, research and exchange.
Across 2026, the program includes Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges, Performances & Sharings for independent dance, physical theatre and multidisciplinary artists locally, statewide and nationally.
The program is process‑focused and artist‑led, supporting experimentation, skill‑building and connection.
In Residence
Artists In Residence
The Artist in Residence program provides selected artists with in-kind studio access and tailored support. Artists access off-peak studio time and may receive producing support, artistic mentorship, technical sessions and discounted access to Studio1 programs.
Provocateur in Residence
The Provocateur in Residence is an invited role supporting critical dialogue across Studio1 programs. The Provocateur engages with artists through showings, workshops and Exchange Afternoons, offering dramaturgical feedback and facilitating discussion.

Space | Hire
Studio1 fosters cross-artform, experimental and hybrid practitioners, and provides the scaffolding and venue for deep research and development. Geared towards physical artforms such as dance, physical theatre and circus, with appropriate venue needs, such as sprung flooring and tarket. The space is built with multi functionality in mind and is also suitable for visual arts, music, film, installation and live performance.
We understand and value the importance that quality studio space provides artists. Studio1 offers subsided artist rates to unfunded/independent artists. Contact us - tell us about your project & budget!
