A Micro Arts Precinct creating Space for Independent dance & Physical Practice
Welcome to Studio 1 - Meanjin/Brisbane’s Creative Hub for Artist’s Experimentation, Exchange & Collaboration
Studio1 is a multifunctional space that can be hired and adapted to accomodate a range of events. We are a warehouse-style venue that is incredibly versatile and flexible.
Studio1 is a creative hub and workspace for Artists to gather, make, create and collaborate. We support the day-to-day practice and on-going development of art in Brisbane.
We deeply understand that artists require space and infrastructure for experimentation, exchange, and discovery to push boundaries and find curious new forms, textures and modes of presentation. Studio1 is a workroom where you can open the toolkit and devise your next artistic creation.
Workroom Program
The Workroom Program is Studio1’s year-round platform for artist development, research and exchange.
Across 2026, the program includes Residencies, Workshops, Exchanges and Showing Opportunities for independent dance, physical theatre and multidisciplinary artists locally, statewide and nationally.
The program is process‑focused and artist‑led, supporting experimentation, skill‑building and connection.
The Workroom Program 2026 is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.
SUPPORT STUDIO1
At Studio1, we champion space for indie artists to create, make and collaborate. You can help us to keep our space vibrant and accessible to all artists. Your valuable contributions support the day to day practice of artists and keep the Studio1 Community flourishing.
