Studio1’s Workroom Program is a vital year-long sector support and capacity building program for independent artists in southeast Queensland, focused on dance and physical practice. There are currently no comparable residency programs in southeast Queensland. Queensland is the only state without a dedicated dance hub with a lack of designated spaces for dance artists to come together, share practice and build a sense of community. Studio1 responds to this yawning gap that has severely impacted our local contemporary performing arts industry.

Donations play a pivotal role in sustaining this program and Studio1 as an organisation, bolstering the difference between government funding and the costs of running an ambitious program.
