Professional contemporary dance class led by Larissa McGowan — an award-winning choreographer, performer and teacher widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading contemporary dance artists. Larissa spent a decade performing with Australian Dance Theatre under the direction of Garry Stewart, while also working as Associate Choreographer during this influential period of the company’s history. Her recent class presented during DanceX drew dancers from across the national sector, including artists from The Australian Ballet, Dancenorth and Restless, and was standout experience of the festival.

Creative Workshop
Friday 10 July
Join a two-hour creative movement workshop led by Michelle Ryan, Larissa McGowan and company artist Charlie Wilkins. Participants will be introduced to the Restless Dance Theatre methodology, blending physical devising processes with contemporary dance practice in a highly inclusive and collaborative environment.
The workshop encourages creative self-expression, confidence, imagination and body awareness through movement exploration and improvisation tasks tailored to individual strengths and access needs. Participants will engage in a movement- based warm-up, spatial awareness exercises, contrasting movement qualities and creative tasks designed to spark connection, curiosity and artistic risk-taking within a safe and supportive space.

Saturday 11 July
Empower your teaching practice with Restless Dance Theatre’s dynamic Teach the Teacher workshop, a professional development opportunity designed for teachers, educators, dance/movement artists, and other professionals. Discover how to create comfortable, inclusive learning environments, communicate effectively using inclusive language, and expand understanding through the creative use of props.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with movement and choreography ideas that inspire creativity, while exploring practical tasks to engage diverse groups. The workshop includes a blend of discussion, walking, and dancing, culminating in an interactive Creative Restless Session. Plus, dedicated time for Q&A ensures your unique questions are addressed, making this a t learning experience for every participant.
